Individual Therapy

What to expect…

I primarily offer individual therapy for adult clients, sessions generally last 50 minutes. Currently all services are provided via teletherapy.

Entering therapy for your first time can be daunting and anxiety provoking, so it may be helpful to understand some of the process.

Prior to meeting I will send you my intake forms which include information about my practice and informed consent and asks some preliminary and background information which serves to help direct our first session.

During the fist session, after reviewing confidentiality, the I will explore a variety of areas of your life including the following: What brought you into therapy? What mental health symptoms you may be experiencing? I will also take a full biopsycho-social history. This will cover your childhood, family relations and dynamics, romantic and sexual history, therapy history, medical history, educational and vocational history, possible experiences of traumatic events, and a variety of other life experiences.

Together we will establish therapeutic goals. Therapy then works through a collaborative relationship in which I help you move toward these goals. Therapy usually involves both developing skills for coping with the immediate stressors and symptoms (anxiety, panic, etc) as well as diving deeper to explore what may be at the root of these struggles.
